Reporting to the Vice President of Family Services, the Outcome & Evaluation Manager is an exciting new role created by Habitat Charlotte Region’s explosive growth. This role will be central to The Habitat Charlotte Region’s (HCR’s) commitment to measure program effectiveness and presents an exciting opportunity to dive into vast amounts of data to help HCR tell the amazing story of impact and outcome for the communities within our service area. The ideal candidate will approach the work from a holistic viewpoint of how programs are uniquely tied to impact, and the best ways to introduce synergies between operations and measurement. She or he will have extensive experience with program evaluation, preferably in a non-profit setting. Proven experience with analyzing data from an outcome versus output orientation with programs that support affordable housing, home preservation and homebuyer education is a plus.
The Outcome & Evaluation Manager will drive evaluation efforts at Habitat Charlotte Region to a new level by developing and implementing new opportunities to build knowledge and evidence with an acumen toward long-term growth, sustainability, and program refinement.
• Engage with staff members throughout the organization to understand their evaluation and data needs
• Support all staff as they work to input and utilize client and outcome data; ensure complete and accurate data entry via regular staff training and maintenance procedures
• Design, modify, and oversee the administration of data collection instruments, such as surveys and questionnaires, as well as focus groups and interviews; create or amend existing tools to better align with desired program outcomes
• Supports logic model and instrument development for various evaluation studies
• Critically analyze results of all evaluation activities, seek areas where efficiencies could help bolster the reliability and validity of collected data, and course correct where necessary
• Create systems to track deliverables for the entire affiliate; identify system deficiencies and recommend solutions to improve the program quality
• Supports robust statistical analyses and external data sets for the development, construction, accounting, and family services departments
• Supports qualitative analysis of interview and/or focus group data
• Specific point of contact and quarterback for all external research studies (i.e. HFHI’s Wealth Building & Lasting Affordability Study for Habitat Homeowners and • Urban Institute’s Understanding Educational Outcomes for Habitat families)
• Create monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as necessary, summarizing the totality of the organization’s data across all existing metrics
• Work with the development, marketing and family services departments and staff to produce high quality impact reports for internal and external stakeholders
• Provides data screening/cleaning, analysis, and knowledge product creation (infographics, reports, tools/templates) for grant reporting
• Bachelor’s degree required, Masters in related field a plus
• Experience with mixed methods research and/or evaluation approaches
• Knowledge of logic models, theories of change, and evaluation types
• Experience with qualitative and statistical analysis
• Demonstrates Knowledge of Data Management and Systems
• Self-motivated and resourceful, significant evaluation/outcomes experience required
• Experience supporting and enhancing database processes that support many functional departments; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Ability to synthesize complex concepts and translate their meaning
• Intermediate to advanced technical skills in Microsoft products – Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
• Prior use of Excel statistics add on package or industry specific evaluation tools a plus
• Excellent organizational and writing skills, solid verbal communications
• Ability to work independently and as a team
• Ability to effectively communicate to diverse groups including senior management, directors, supervisors, volunteers, and donors
• Strong interpersonal skills and written language proficiency are critical
• Ability work in office environment as needed which requires ability to speak, hear, with the visual and manual dexterity to manage papers, reports, and typing
• Must embody the capacity to maintain the following for several hours at a time: use of personal computer or similar technology, phone, sitting as required
• Ability to lift/pull up to 30lbs
• Ability to perform outreach in the community, including walking through neighborhoods, which may include visiting buildings and homes that may have stairs and/or other external elements, including weather for several hours at a time
