Beyoncé will be giving Charlotte “that Kodak energy” this summer.
What’s happening: Beyoncé kicked off Black History Month by announcing her Renaissance World Tour on Instagram Wednesday morning, which includes a show at Bank of America Stadium on Aug. 9.
- This will be her first performance at Bank of America Stadium.
Why it matters: Landing a stop on Beyoncé’s tour is huge for Charlotte, which has missed out on some big-name performers in recent months.
- Between the lines: Taylor Swift excluded Charlotte from her upcoming tour, for instance.
Flashback: Beyoncé performed in Charlotte in 2013 at Time Warner Cable Arena, now Spectrum Center. In 2016, She performed in Raleigh at NC State’s Carter-Finley Stadium, but the hasn’t performed in the Carolinas since 2018 when her “On the Run II” tour with Jay-Z included a stop in Columbia, S.C.
What’s next: Presale starts on Feb. 6 for BeyHive members.
- Beyoncé’s tour will use Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan technology “to help filter out buyers looking to resell tickets, so more tickets get to fans who are going to hold on to tickets and attend the show,” per Live Nation, Ticketmaster’s parent company. Fans can register here.
- Ultimately the goal is to avoid a similar debacle fans experienced when trying to purchase tickets for Swift’s tour.
