Assistant Director, Child Development
Covenant’s Child Development Center is a 5-star program licensed by the N.C. Division of Child Development. We offer a year-round program for children six weeks to five years of age. Located in the Dilworth community, our mission is to provide high-quality child care and education to children from a variety of backgrounds.
Job summary:
The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting the Center Director in ensuring the health, safety, and quality of education for all children within the center’s care. Under the direction of the Center Director, the Assistant Director collaborates with staff to ensure that curriculum and classroom activities are properly delivered, and that the needs of the students and the goals of the center are met appropriately.
Duties and responsibilities:
• Works with Center Director in orientation and training of new hires
• Assists Center Director in conducting tours and provide interested families with information about our program
• Maintains children’s files including updating and reporting requirements for the NC Division of Child Development
• Assists Center Director in assisting staff members with developmentally appropriate practice in Early Childhood Education
• Assists Center Director with waitlist and billing entry and management
• Assists with opening and closing the center and ensures the building is secure at the end of each day
• Works with the Center Director to assure that all NC state regulations and inspections are prepared for in advance and staff trained appropriately
• Works with the Center Director in assisting staff with managing behavior problems
• Assist in the inventory and maintenance of supplies throughout the center
• Keeps the Director informed of any necessary information regarding the care and safety of children
• Assists and accepts responsibility in other daily center duties that might be temporary in the event other personnel are not available
• Attends and participates in staff meetings, center events, and parent meetings as requested
• Collaborate with staff to ensure adherence to quality standards in accordance with Center guidelines and state and local requirements; implement improvements where needed
• Work with the Center Director in communication with families and community through appropriate outreach activities
• Follow all the center policies and state regulations
• Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement
• Satisfy all goals as established annually in agreement with supervisor
• Assume duties of Center Director and Teachers as needed during their absence
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, or related field
• 3 – 5 years of verifiable work experience in an early childhood center teaching young children
• High energy
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrates strong understanding of child development
• NC Childhood Administrative Credential or progressing with this
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Leadership and Administrative experience in a childcare setting
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification
• Clear full background check
• Must pass health screening
