2023 marks Habitat for Humanity Charlotte Region’s 40th year of serving in the community.
The background: Habitat Charlotte Region was founded in 1983 by seven local churches.
- Since then, it has served more than 3,500 families under the mission of creating a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
Here’s how: Habitat builds homes, communities, and hope from Statesville to Pineville by partnering with deserving families through their Homebuyer, Critical Home Repair, and Money Matters Financial Literacy programs.

Get involved: To celebrate the 40th anniversary, there will be numerous opportunities to get involved in Habitat’s work and support the mission throughout the year.
- All in honor of building homes, communities and hope.
In the first half of the year, the celebrations will be anchored by two public events:
- The Building Futures Affordable Housing Symposium, featuring speaker Mia Birdsong.
- Blue Jean Bash, which is Habitat’s annual fundraising gala.
The Building Futures Symposium, which is part of the Beloved Community initiative, is a free event and will take place on Tuesday, March 14 from 6pm – 8:30pm at Central Piedmont Community College’s Halton Theater.
Blue Jean Bash is a ticketed event and will be on Friday, April 28 from 6pm – 10pm.
The 40th anniversary also presents unique opportunities to get involved in addressing the affordable housing crisis in the Charlotte region.
Here’s how: Whether you want to build a house, dress up and dance the night away, or join a boots-on-the-ground justice initiative, you can get involved.
