Controller (Part-time)

Piedmont Capital is a commercial real estate investment firm pursuing retail, office, hospitality, industrial and office assets in the Southeast. With a focus on core plus and value-add assets, we acquire properties with existing income in established or emerging locations with imminent long-term growth through appreciation of the underlying land.

As a part-time member of our growing team, reporting to and working directly with Piedmont Capital’s partnership team and third parties, the Controller will be responsible for all aspects of the firm’s financial management at the corporate and investment level.

• Manage all pertinent financial documents for the firm and its investments, including but not limited to income statements, balance sheets and general ledgers
• Review and initiate all investor distributions per the business plan of each property including investment waterfalls
• Prepare and distribute quarterly investor reports for all investments in conjunction with each distribution
• Management of all relevant third-party relationships including banking, lending, and accounting
• Work with third-party property manager on annual CAM reconciliations and tax calculations for each investment
• Work with Piedmont Capital’s CPA on annual tax returns and auditing at the company level and across all investments
• Closely monitor the company’s cash position and prepare monthly bank reconciliations
• Manage all payroll and employee benefits

Primary qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with preference given to CPA certification
• Experience with Juniper Square highly desired
• 3-5 years of experience in commercial real estate accounting

Additional details:
• 10-20 hours per week with potential to evolve into a full-time position as the company grows
• Very flexible work hours
• This will be a hybrid role with the Controller initially working from home with the expectation to spend time in the office as their position grows with the company. Our office is located in Montford Park
