Property Accountant
Job summary:
Handles all accounting matters relating to specific assigned properties including bank accounts, accounts receivable/payable, monthly trial balance preparation, and computer operations. Acts as a liaison between the accounting department and each property, resolving problems and answering questions in a professional manner.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports
• Prepare audit/tax schedules and packages
• Prepare management fee calculations
• Liaise with outside auditors/tax preparers
• Assist property managers with analyzing expenses, recording monthly accrual adjustments, and reviewing CAM reconciliations
• Prepares bank reconciliations monthly and maintains up to date and accurate cash balances for all property bank accounts
• Processes weekly accounts payable check runs and researches accounts payable issues as needed
• Prepare and monitor the monthly closing calendar for assigned portfolio and ensure closing deadlines are communicated and met
• Ensure all journal entries are accurately recorded and properly supported
• Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
• Review owner distributions
• Prepare bank wires and transfers
• Assist/prepare cash flow forecast
• Prepares lender replacement reserve draws
• Prepare and assist with property budget schedules
• Prepare and maintain fixed asset depreciation/amortization schedules
• Calculate and record straight-line rent and other GAAP adjustments

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 2 years of accounting experience preferred
• Proven project management, analytical, and organizational skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Able to work well independently under pressure in a fast paced environment and exercise sound judgement and discretion
• Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Yardi experience preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Manage time effectively to meet and exceed deadlines to ensure availability for additional projects, as needed
