Located in Charlotte, North Carolina, the Bechtler is a mid-sized museum with a permanent collection of European and American modern art.

Primary responsibilities:
The Program Coordinator is responsible for all Bechtler Museum of Modern Art programming. The primary purpose of the position is to manage and execute the museum’s scheduled programs, including Wednesday Night Live, Jazz at the Bechtler, Modernism and Film, and Music and Museum. Additionally, the position has the responsibility of creating new program content in collaboration with the leadership team. This position works evenings and weekends as the on-site lead for all programs in addition to administrative office hours during the week to manage all program logistics.

Essential duties:
• Develops content for Bechtler Museum of Modern Art programming
• Coordinates and executes logistics for all programs
• Works with the leadership team to create new programs and manages all one-off programs like artist panels and community collaborations for the public
• Develops and maintains positive relationship with program partners
• Coordinates and executes event details for external rentals
• Completes administrative tasks
• Tracks outcomes, goals, and progress for programs
• Communicates all security and staffing needs to Security and Facilities Manager
• Works with Marketing team to update internal and external museum calendars with program information

Qualification requirements:
• Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in art history, hospitality, or project management
• Experience Required: Two (2) – Three (3) years in event management or project management
• Experience in program management and development
• Experience managing and prioritizing multiple projects at the same time with strong attention to detail
• Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills
• Strong customer service and communication skills including the ability to work well with a wide variety of audiences
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment, adjusting and providing appropriate action when unanticipated needs arise
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Outlook
• Knowledge or ability to train in CPR and First Aid with experience in responding to emergencies
• Ability to stand and walk/move around spaces for an extended period. Ability to lift up to 15 lbs
• Training provided by the museum will include North Carolina ABC permitting and service laws-Alcohol Sales and Service Training with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg ALE office, and Active Shooter and de-escalation security training for events
