The FLYERS Afterschool program began in 1989 as a solution to providing quality, affordable childcare for ages kindergarten through fifth grade. Founded by Leroy Springs & Co., the FLYERS program was created to fill a need in the community, providing recreation and childhood development opportunities to Fort Mill’s children. Today, the FLYERS program focuses on the whole child and the importance of social emotional health, where they can make friends and learn important life skills. FLYERS remains the premier afterschool program in the Fort Mill School District, representing a decades-long partnership and growth to serve 11 elementary schools and thousands of students each year. Overview:
Do you have a passion for young people? Looking for a fun part-time job that provides excellent professional development and networking opportunities? Help facilitate the daily operations of the FLYERS Afterschool program offered in each of Fort Mill’s 11 elementary schools. This role will help to manage and mentor staff, create a strong team that engages in activities with children, and provide quality care and enrichment that helps to enhance children’s social skills, elevate activity level and extend learning in a fun and safe environment.
Key functions:
• Supervises staff and implements proactive decision-making; maintains high standards of safety
• Leads team meetings and ensures compliance with all policies, procedures, laws and regulations
• Provides assessments of the program and mentors staff with effective goal-setting
• Develops and maintains effective communication and positive working relationships
• Oversees used areas and ensures other shared school space is well maintained
• Facilitates FLYERS programming to meet the needs of the children
• Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Strong decision-making, organizational, versatility, initiative, and human relation skills
• Strong supervisory skills
• Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks
• Above average interpersonal skills with strong written/oral communication skills and an ability to work with a wide variety of people and circumstances
Minimum qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED preferred or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
• Some supervisory experience preferred
• Ability to supervise, lead and direct the work of others
• Negative PPD/Tuberculosis Testing
• Current CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training (training provided)

Assistant Site Coordinator, Afterschool Teachers
Physical requirements:
Must be able to exert up to twenty-five pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects when needed. Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work; must be able to remain on feet for extended periods.
