Basic function:
Oversees and manages the volunteer program for Habitat Charlotte Regions prospective and existing volunteers. This position will supervise the Volunteer Services team managing affiliate-wide volunteer programs while creating a consistent, positive volunteer experience across the affiliate.
Principal accountabilities:
• In partnership with the Habitat Volunteer team, work with construction, ReStore and other program staff to identify volunteer opportunities
• Create strategies for recruiting and engaging new volunteers for Habitat builds and ReStore activities
• Conduct presentations and speaking engagements for potential and existing volunteers, representing Habitat for Humanity in a variety of settings
• Create and manage volunteer processes and procedures to ensure proper recruitment, selection, orientation, and training of volunteers to align with Habitats mission
• Aid Volunteer Department in volunteer onboarding process, evaluation of volunteer programs, and regular appreciation events
• Work with all departments to foster a consistent, professional volunteer experience across the affiliate
• Maintain records of contact and communication with volunteers in the database
• Work with the Communications & Marketing team to develop messaging unique to Habitat Charlotte Regions volunteers
• Survey and evaluate operations with the goal to enhance the volunteer experience
• Work closely with the Senior Manager of Partnerships to ensure sponsorship benefits are fulfilled
• Create meaningful volunteer stewardship opportunities and appreciation events for individual and group volunteers across the affiliate
• Create a growth and retention plan for volunteers; view trends in volunteer participation, anticipate future needs and plan accordingly
Knowledge and skills:
• 3 years work experience in volunteer administration and relationship management
• Bachelors Degree preferred
• Dedication to positive volunteer experience critical to Habitat operations
• Effective communication internally and externally to maintain an atmosphere where volunteer opportunities are consistently available as an ongoing public relations effort
• Self-motivated and directed with the ability to think independently and strategically regarding the volunteer experience as it pertains to Habitats mission
• Work flexible hours, primarily Tues-Sat, including some evening and Sun-Mon commitments
• Computer skills, including database management and web management
Physical requirements:
• Ability to sit at desk and use computer for extended periods of time
• Ability to stand and walk construction job sites for several hours at a time
• Ability to lift 20 lbs. unassisted
