Assistant Director for Signature Programs and Sponsorships

Overview:
Reporting to the Director of Alumni Engagement Programming and working in collaboration with alumni team members and alumni volunteers, the Assistant Director of Signature Programs and Sponsorships will manage the Alumni Association’s unique on-campus alumni engagement opportunities while also having direct responsibility for securing sponsorships for alumni programs and events.

Responsibilities:
Program and event management
• Manage the planning and execution of unique on-campus alumni engagement events including Homecoming, Oktoberfest, home game tailgates and others as identified
• Manage 49er on the Road tailgates and other off-campus engagement activities centered around 49er athletics
• Manage Green Tie Gala, the Alumni Association’s yearly student scholarship fundraiser. Coordinate event marketing and promotions in collaboration with the Alumni Communications Specialist. Successfully coordinate the details and logistics of the Gala
• Identify and recruit a diverse volunteer committee to assist in securing donations for mystery box and silent auction items for the Gala
• Manage community service initiatives, including 49er Service Week
• Manage and coordinate Charlotte area community special events including the 49er Fitness Series, 49er Forum, and others as identified
• Work closely with the Alumni Communications Specialist and the University Communications team to market and promote respective programs through all appropriate communications channels for the Alumni Association and the university
Sponsorship development and community relations
• Assistant Director will secure Gala sponsorships to offset event costs and increase amount raised for student scholarships
• Identify, cultivate and steward sponsorships for alumni events and programs. Coordinate with appropriate development team members to prevent conflicts or duplicity with the prospective sponsor list
Other responsibilities
• Develop and maintain budgets for each distinct program or event that the position manages
• Participate in office and university-wide initiatives as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required
• At least three to five years of experience in event management or related field
• Must possess knowledge of best practices and industry standards
• Work experience in alumni engagement and/or volunteer management is highly desirable
• Program management and event planning skills are highly desirable
• Experience developing and managing budgets
• Experience cultivating sponsorships to support events and programs
• Strong collaborative leadership skills and ability to work effectively as a team member
• A high degree of energy, creativity and initiative
• Ability to interact with high level individuals, maintaining a high level of professionalism, judgment, and confidentiality
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including proposal writing and public speaking
• Capable of managing competing priorities and multiple deadlines, and seeing projects through from beginning to end
• The ability to travel and participate in evening and weekend activities
• The ability to authentically and enthusiastically represent the mission, vision, and values of UNC Charlotte and contribute to its diverse and inclusive campus culture as a strong and compelling advocate

Compensation:
$43,647 – $61,500
