External Communications Manager

Overview:
ESFM is looking for a dynamic, effective and experienced communicator with a passion for storytelling and strong relationship building. Reporting to the Senior Director of Communications, the External Communications Manager will play an important role in the company’s integrated communications strategy, working to amplify our story and services in public arenas to accelerate our growth while helping us maintain brand loyalty and a strong corporate reputation among our clients. Working with the ESFM Marketing and Communications team in a fast-paced environment full of variety, opportunity and innovation, this role will oversee content creation, distribution, and measurement of ESFM’s public relations, social and digital content initiatives and programming.

• You are innovative and a self-starter. Keeping up with industry trends help you spark new ideas, and you aren’t afraid to bring those ideas to the table to push ESFM forward. You have an eye for leveling up
• You are a strong writer and have excellent communication skills. You know how to paint a picture with words and in a way that would make an English professor proud. You are articulate in both verbal and written communication and able to explain abstract concepts concisely and effectively
Responsibilities:
• Elevate ESFM’s brand identity and corporate reputation among key stakeholders including clients, the facilities management industry, and general public
• Craft and shape our message and voice, develop story angles and communication campaigns that include client communications, social media, traditional media and industry relations
• Drive ESFM’s content strategy, communication planning and storytelling initiatives forward that convey thought leadership and industry innovation
• Execute ESFM’s strategic media relation campaigns and maintain strong relationships with trade publications and other media outlets
• Work in collaboration with the Marketing and Sales teams on pitches and sharing important company success stories and initiatives
• Manage awards calendar, identify opportunity and craft award submissions
• Support ESFM Leadership team with content generation, thought leadership positioning and company advocacy on LinkedIn
• Lead regular communication and storytelling campaigns that support company diversity, equity and inclusion and corporate social responsibility goals
• Manage content for esfm-usa.com such as blogs, stationary articles and case studies and other client-facing communication outlets
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Mass Communications and/or Journalism
• 5+ years of public relations, media relations and/or corporate communications experience; Presentation of online portfolio demonstrating abilities and past projects required
• Agency or cross-functional team experience preferred
• Experience with creating copy for press releases, case studies, blogs, and other collateral; experience with speech and video script writing, project and virtual meeting planning
• Strong technical aptitude, current on communication measuring and reporting and social media trends
• Hospitality mindset and high business acumen
• Strong proofreading abilities including attention to detail regarding messaging, audience and tone
• Facilities Management experience a plus
• Knowledge of SharePoint, WordPress, Constant Contact and video editing programs a plus
• Ability to travel on occasion
