Sr. Marketing Director: Impact & Development

Overview:
Under the direction of the SVP of Marketing and Technology and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Senior Marketing Director of Impact and Development will be responsible for providing leadership to the marketing strategy and execution of all community impact and financial development initiatives, including a focus on donors (development, cultivation, recognition and retention); strategic fundraising and event planning; and select community impact priorities. The role will also provide direct strategic leadership to and is responsible for the development and implementation of a cohesive, integrated and high-quality marketing and communication strategy that aligns with the Association’s overall marketing strategy and that supports both Association and branch community impact and financial development priorities.

Responsibilities:
Strategic marketing
• Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Association marketing team and branches to develop and implement integrated marketing and communication plans and campaigns that drive awareness, participation and support of critical community impact and financial development programs and initiatives with a focus on the donor continuum, Annual Campaign, key special events and community programs
• Leverage and lead with key data, metrics and insights to develop and implement marketing and communications plans and campaigns that drive awareness, participation and support of critical community impact and financial development programs and initiatives with a focus on the donor continuum, Annual Campaign, key special events and community programs
• Develop, manage and monitor marketing and advertising budgets specific to community impact and financial development programming
• Closely partner with the senior Association marketing directors (member experience and program experience) to strategically align messaging and communication and leverage cross-promotion opportunities
• Help develop and inform a strategic, measurable digital integration strategy that leverages and drives a high-quality donor connection continuum as well as highlights relevant community impact programs
• Lead and manage creation of high-quality, targeted programming materials and messaging and ensure YUSA brand standards (voice, messaging) are met
Leadership and staff development
• Collaborate with Association leaders, branch Executive Directors and senior branch staff to build rapport, credibility and trust
• Support and partner with community impact and financial development teams (association and community) to provide marketing insight and direction that helps drive and inform their work
• Help lead and manage cross-functional work teams – outlining scope of strategic work; meeting agendas; managing and monitoring output
• Partner with the Marketing department to help manage work flow, process and efficiencies as well as final output of materials
• Recruit, supervise, guide and develop marketing staff team, including timely and appropriate adherence to all training and certification requirements
• Partner closely with the VP of Marketing and Brand Strategy and the Senior Association Marketing Director to provide leadership, vision and counsel to the broad marketing team
• Attend and support Association and branch events, as appropriate

Qualifications:
• Four-year college degree in marketing, journalism, communications or related field
• Minimum of eight to ten years experience in creating and implementing donor plans and/or marketing communications plans
• Minimum of five years of experience managing others
• Proven experience in tracking donor, volunteer and retention data; understanding and leveraging customer insight; leading and participating in cross-functional teams; managing the creative process and coordinating a media planning and buying process
• Demonstrated ability in understanding and managing critical marketing channels and tactics – email, web, social, collateral and in-store merchandizing
• Highly developed organizational skills
• Demonstrated personal leadership and successful experience supervising, guiding, developing and coaching full time and part-time staff
• Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills in creating and sustaining a multitude of trusting relationships with a variety of staff, members and volunteers
• Proven ability to demonstrate initiative, sound judgment and independent decision making
• Professional oral and written communication skills and proven presentation and public speaking skills
• Demonstrated success in budget development and management
• Demonstrated competence with Microsoft Office and Photoshop and the ability to become proficient in Association-specific software
• Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
