Overview:
Develop and maintain effective messaging and communications strategies and processes of South Mecklenburg Presbyterian Church, supporting all worship, education, outreach, fellowship, stewardship, preschool, and community activities. Provide counsel, design, and support across all communication channels, including print, website, social media, graphic design, video production, and community relations. The position is open to Part-time or Full-time depending on the candidate’s preference and level of experience.

Responsibilities:
• Messaging: Work with church leadership, the congregation, the communications committee, and staff to effectively tell the story of the church
• Branding: Create and maintain branding and imaging that accurately represents all areas of the church
• Website: Create and maintain the church website, providing pertinent information to potential visitors and church members
• Print Production: Provide print publications that are both informative and engaging, including weekly bulletins and bulletin inserts, quarterly newsletters, and periodic mass mailings to the community. Provide print production support to all program areas of the church
• Congregational Email: Create and distribute weekly email, providing a 7-day snapshot of upcoming services, events, and registration opportunities. Send additional emails as necessary, such as weather closing and funeral announcements
• Social Media: Maintain an active, informative, and engaging social media presence
• Live-Streaming: Manage our Boxcast live-streaming account to keep services scheduled and linked to our website and Facebook
• Graphic Design: Design and create logos and imaging for all programming and events, providing various size and resolution versions for use in print, web, broadcast, and social media
• Signage: Design and deliver all church signage, including lawn banners, street signage, room directories, sandwich board signage, and indoor banners
• Video Production: Create and produce video content for use on the website, our in-house flat screen televisions, and during worship services
• Communications Committee: Staff and lead this committee of lay leaders within the church
Additional responsibilities for a Full-time position
• Database Administrator: Maintain and oversee our church database
• A/V: Recruit, train, and oversee A/V volunteer team. Serve as point person for all A/V needs
• Photography and Videography: attend church events as needed to take photographs and video for use in communications
• Special consideration will be given to candidates with a knowledge of and love for the Church
• Extra special consideration will be given to candidates who have previous experience in a church setting
