A sheet of ice still covers much of Charlotte after Sunday’s storm, and with freezing temperatures expected all week, the slush isn’t going anywhere.

Why it matters: Charlotte embraced its rare snow day with makeshift sleds, snow angels, and photos upon photos upon photos.

  • Seriously. We received too many photos to count via Instagram, email and in our Facebook comments. We’re talking thousands upon thousands of photos of your dogs, your kids, your trash bags-turned-sleds, your snow-filled parking lots, your boozy hot chocolates.
  • Sorry we couldn’t respond to even a fraction of your warm messages. Just know we love ’em all.

A snow day like Sunday only comes around every few years, so we wanted to remember what it was like all across the Charlotte area and share a handful of our favorite photos with you all.

“Just built my first snowman after living in this great nation for 20+ years,” Charlotte resident José Alvarez tweeted. “#CharlotteNC keeps on giving us special moments to remember.”

We loved this display in the parking lot of Heist on Sunday morning.

A box for a sled works, too. This was the scene in Chantilly on Sunday.
