Resident Culture, the popular brewery that quickly turned heads with its space and hazy beers after its 2017 opening in Plaza Midwood, now is taking its talents to South End. And it’s bringing a few friends along with it.
“This had always been a dream for us and this space was just so beautiful,” co-owner Amanda McLamb tells Axios Charlotte. “We really had hopes for the future here.”
What to expect: The taproom opens Friday. It has two main spaces, The Lightning Drops Bar and the Lagerfest dining area. Both use murals and design elements created by staff designer Maryssa Pickett to immerse guests into the artwork found on Resident Culture’s beer can labels.
- “Every single one of these spaces is inspired as if you took a jump inside of one of their labels that she has created for us,” McLamb says.
- There’s also a 1,000-square-foot outdoor patio, a DJ booth that overlooks the bar and, on the lower level, a 6,800-square-foot wedding and event space that will be called the Gilded Cellar at Resident Culture. (The Gilded Cellar is expected to be complete in February 2022).
Food & drink: El Toro Bruto will start off serving its All Day Tacos ($3.50) and eventually add its popular breakfast tacos and scratch-made pastries to the menu.
- The Taco Bruto ($6.50+), which features crispy griddled cheese inside the tortilla with beans and protein, is a must-try.
- As McLamb puts it: “There’s nothing that goes better with beer than tacos in so many ways.”
