Overview:
WFAE is seeking an experienced newscaster to help shape our coverage of daily, local news for the Charlotte region.

In this role, you will start the day at 9 a.m. making calls, covering news conferences and preparing for a midday air shift delivering newscasts at the top of the hour from noon to 3 p.m. You must be able to write engaging copy quickly while organizing sound-rich newscasts and reporting on breaking news.

After 3 p.m., you will be assigned to the digital desk to report on breaking news or write explainers or other digital copy. In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring that your stories and headlines are available to digital audiences through wfae.org and streaming platforms. You also will be the primary fill-in for our Morning Edition and All Things Considered newscast producers, as well as a backup host for Weekend Edition. As a result, occasional early morning, evening and weekend shifts will be required.

We are looking for applicants with solid broadcast training/experience and who have proven experience promoting their journalism and engaging with community members on social media platforms.

Qualifications:
• 3+ years of relevant work experience or advanced broadcast/audio training
• Strong news judgment
• Strong writing, editing and communication skills
• Ability to work independently under tight deadlines
• Excellent attention to detail
• Experience working with content management and audio editing tools
