Overview:
Position has overall management responsibility and authority in the area of events and venue management at the Dubois Campus for all areas other than academic programming. Position has primary responsibility for internal relations in order to build strong relationships and market the Dubois Campus to those that manage events on campus. Must fully understand the mission of the Dubois Campus and the School of Professional Studies and demonstrate the ability to attract clients who embody that mission. The position will manage large, high-profile events.

The Dubois Campus is considered “Assigned Space” under University Policy 601.6 Scheduling of University Space and therefore exempt from many space assignment policies. Position must be able to interpret University policy and utilize best practices to generate policies for the Dubois Campus for which clear direction is not given. Position is responsible for writing and implementing policies which have significant legal implications. Position is responsible for a thorough understanding of University and State policies and must be able apply policies appropriately. This position is responsible for managing vendor staff as applicable and provide direction to a variety of internal and external stakeholders during event operations.

Required minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred qualifications:
Graduation from a four-year college or university and at least four years of program associate experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities:

• Internal relations in order to build strong relationships and market the Dubois Campus to those that manage events on main campus

Other work responsibilities:
The position will market space at the Dubois Campus and manage both large-scale and high-profile events. Successful candidates must be knowledgeable in best practices for health and safety and must be able to guide clients to plan successful events during situations such as the Covid-19 pandemic.

Experience, skills, training and education:
• Engaging the community in an educational setting
• Experience developing internal and external outreach plans
• Three to five years of experience managing a venue, and managing large scale events
• Experience interpreting policy and writing procedures for which no clear direction may be apparent
• Ability to problem solve under pressure and make decisions to identify critical issues which may affect the outcome of planned events
• Significant familiarity with UNC Charlotte, the Dubois Campus and its mission
