Compensation Analyst
Overview:
The Compensation Analyst is responsible for analyzing, proposing, implementing, and maintaining competitive, cost-effective and legally compliant compensation programs. Provides advice for job design, classification of positions, development of compensation proposals and the application of salary administration guidelines and regulatory requirements.
What you will be doing:
• Assists with the design, development, implementation, and administration of compensation-related data (job codes, salary structures, etc.) and programs
• Assists in the evaluation and implementation of job analysis instruments and materials
• Assesses jobs and their respective duties to determine classification as exempt or nonexempt and appropriate salary range
• Prepares and maintains job classifications and salary scales
• Participates in various surveys, analyzes results, and prepares recommendations. Gathers data from market-based compensation surveys; uses spreadsheet and data analysis techniques to assess results and market trends
• Prepares and presents summary reports of job analysis and compensation analysis information
• Benchmarks jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position
• Conducts market pay analysis and internal compensation analysis for use in job evaluations, salary recommendations for new hires and promotions, ad hoc requests to ensure external competitiveness and internal equity, while adhering to the company’s compensation philosophy
• Collaborates with HC Business Partners in the development of job descriptions that accurately reflect the work performed by incumbents
• Administers annual compensation planning and the execution of the annual and mid-year compensation review cycles
• Conducts audits to maintain the integrity of the data and works with applicable partners to ensure system meets compensation needs
• Assists with the development of compensation process documentation, instructions, and resources to assist HC Business Partners and leaders. Recommends automation enhancements to facilitate the continued improvement to the process
• Participates in departmental projects such as corporate-wide compensation infrastructure development, and various bonus plan redesign initiatives
• Monitors compensation practices from a legal standpoint to ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations such as FLSA, Title VII, Equal Pay Act, Americans with Disability Act, Dodd-Frank, etc. Conducts research on compensation best practices and proposes new and improved programs or practices based on organizational needs, cost projections, and statistical analysis
• Performs other related duties as assigned
What we need:
• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Versed in local, state, and federal laws and regulations such as the Fair Labor Standards Act, Equal Pay Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, minimum wage, overtime, and record-keeping requirements
• Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) a plus
• Knowledge of human resource laws, regulations, and best practices
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be detailed oriented with strong interpersonal, organization, and communication skills. •Ability to change directions when needed while maintaining a positive attitude
• Ability to lead others through a logical, in-depth analysis of a problem or solution
• Ability to assess the costs, benefits and risks of a decision while using sound logic to ultimately make well-informed decisions
• Ability to create financial models and provide data analysis for forecasting
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with abilities to build pivot tables, V-Lookup, complex formulas, and conditional statements. Strong skills in other Microsoft Office Suite applications
• Minimal travel may be required
