Duckworth’s Grill & Taphouse, a popular restaurant chain in Charlotte, is opening its sixth location, this time in SouthPark.

What’s on tap: A new Duckworth’s Grill & Taphouse and a new cocktail bar called The Loft at Duckworth’s, which will be located on the second floor of the same Piedmont Row building, owner Rob Duckworth tells me.

When: Construction will begin in January. “We don’t [know] who will be in charge of running them just yet, but Duckworth’s should open mid-year next year, and then The Loft will follow a few months after,” Duckworth said.

Familiar space: The new Duckworth’s and The Loft will be where Taco Mac used to be: 4625 Piedmont Row Dr. The Duckworth’s will offer the same menu options as the other locations.

Why it matters: The original Duckworth’s in Park Road closed in 2019, after being open for more than a decade. It was one of the top destinations on Montford for years, as one of the first restaurants in the city to offer a wall full of beer taps. Since opening that first location in 2004, Duckworth expanded his portfolio to include a speakeasy-type bar in the basement of the Uptown Duckworth’s, and the new concept Link & Pin.

What’s next: Speaking of Link & Pin, Duckworth says there’s a third location in the works at the Arboretum Shopping Center. He says it should be open by the end of the year.

In the meantime, you can check out the other Duckworth locations:

  • Ballantyne: 14015 Conlan Circle
  • Huntersville: 16609 Statesville Rd.
  • Mooresville: 560 River Hwy.
  • Rea Farms: 9805-D Sandy Rock Pl.
  • The Uptown location is temporarily closed, but is set to reopen this fall. The Cellar at Duckworth’s has remained open.
