Exactly one year ago Assistant City Manager Hyong Yi’s wife Catherine passed away after a battle with cancer. As a monument to his wife, Hyong and his two young children are passing out 100 love notes in Uptown Charlotte this morning (Friday, November 20th).
They’re challenging Charlotte to join them and post a love note to social media using the hashtag #100lovenotes.

- Hyong invited me to breakfast on August 3 and I thought for sure he was going to yell at me for something we did in our coverage. But, he just wanted to connect. Three cups of coffee later, we were having a deep conversation about love. Hyong forcefully said to me, “You know what, Ted? You have 24 hours to create something, give it to your wife and email me the evidence. Do it.” Here’s what I created (my son ended up gnawing on it and ripping it to shreds).
