Queen City Anime Convention at 555 South McDowell St.: Anime stans rise! This three-day convention celebrates all things animation, manga and comics, video gaming and cosplay. Candle Making Workshop at NoDa Brewing Co. at 2921 North Tryon St.: Join Stacy Ahua of Usu Company candles for a DIY candle-making workshop. You’ll get to sample, select and blend a one-of-a-kind scent for your candle. 6-8pm. $45. Details.

Hot Glass Alley Open Demo at 438 Atando Ave.: Get a look into the glass-making process by viewing a demonstration lead by guest artist, Mark Leputa. Free drinks and light appetizers will be served. 6-9pm. Free. Details.

South End Market Back to School Event at 2140 South Blvd.: It’s a back-to-school bash at Atherton Market. There will be summer produce and goods from 25 local vendors, a live cooking demo by Chef Alyssa from live cooking demo by Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen, music, face painting and free popsicles for the first 100 people. 8am to 1pm. South End Rail Trail Clean-Up at 129 New Bern St.: Give back to the South End community by cleaning up around the Rail Trail. I Love the 90s Bash Bar Crawl in Uptown: Dress in your best 90s gear and join fellow 90s kids for a bar crawl spectacular including Bowlero, Ri Ra, Roxbury and Whiskey Row. 3-10pm. $16-$20. Details.
