Overview:
Charlotte Latin has an immediate need for a Graphic Designer. The Graphic Designer is a member of the Marketing and Communications Office staff. The ideal candidate is a motivated, proactive individual who thrives in a deadline-driven environment, who is able to process, react to and solve problems as they arise on tight deadlines in a team environment.

We seek someone with experience in print and digital media who is able to work well with the community members and be able to both take direction and develop new concepts. The graphic designer implements marketing and communications projects for the Charlotte Latin School community, including the Head of Schools Office, Admissions Office, Office of Philanthropy and Alumni Relations, Division Offices, Summer Programs, faculty, and parent volunteer organizations.

Responsibilities:
• Designs and implements print and digital projects from concept development through final product for internal and external constituents/audiences, including magazines, advertisements, newsletters, annual reports, collateral packages, brochures, invitations, logos, programs, handbooks, presentations, and directories
• Works within the school Brand Guide. Refines and updates Brand Guide over time. Maintains and manages Latins Style and Usage Guide and associated files
• Coordinates projects and sets and meets deadlines with print vendors, sign vendors, photographers, and other external contractors
• Oversees rotating campus signage, including installation and scheduling, event banners, campus light pole banners
• Assists Assistant Director of Marketing & Communications on all new signage, e.g., directional signage, event signage
• Produces professional slideshows for events and screens on campus
• Oversees print and digital advertising schedules, tracking, and gathering content for ads, sending content to ad outlet / creative agency
• Designs digital messages / emails / eNewsletters / GIFs
• Gathers and updates yearly information oversees printing (as applicable), and oversees the distribution of school publications including, Volunteer Resource Guide, Family Directory, Family Handbook, Photographs school events as needed to support the Digital Media Manager
• Owns and organizes the archive of printed materials
• Provides design consultation services to Charlotte Latins administration, faculty, and parent volunteers
• Performs other duties as needed
• Works with IT to keep department printers functioning and supplied with paper and ink

Education and experience:
• Bachelors degree in graphic arts or comparable work experience
• Minimum of three years experience, school or ad agency experience is a plus
• A professional portfolio is required
• Must have experience in multi-page design such as magazines or catalogs (50+ pages)
• Passion for the field of education is a plus

• Have well-developed typography skills
• Maintains highly organized server and document files
• Articulates rationale behind design ideas
• Takes feedback respectfully and handles rejection
• Handles many projects on a deadline

Computer skills:
• Proficiency on Macintosh/Apple platforms
• Proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator)
• Knowledge of any of the following is a plus: Basecamp, Prezi, MailChimp, Finalsite
• Knowledge of basic digital design is a plus, including creating simple animations and GIFs
• Ability to access and utilize web-based resources to create graphics
