Job summary:
The role of the Technical Director is to lead and oversee all elements (audio, visual, and lighting) of production for Myers Park Presbyterian Church. This includes creative development, production and training, and effectiveness and excellence in production for alignment with the church’s mission and values.

Qualifications:
Degree in Audio-Visual (AV) or related field; three to five years of training and related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities:
• Provide technical and strategic leadership for all areas of production in order to provide high quality and creative programming
• Facilitate an environment that allows people to experience meaningful worship and learning opportunities, both in-person and through a broadcast medium
• Provide trained, qualified AV operators for worship services, and all scheduled ministry activities and public events
• Establish standards of operation and quality for AV services and oversee continuous performance against those standards by the AV volunteer teams
• Work collaboratively with worship council and clergy throughout worship planning and execution
• Execute or recommend ongoing maintenance and purchasing in collaboration with the Operations Director
• Assist staff with solutions for general AV issues
• Serve as primary AV support for funerals
• All other duties as assigned

Skills:
• Ability to set up and check all equipment for AVL needs prior to an event; teardown and store all equipment after events
• Experience with and a good ear for mixing audio for vocals and multi-instrument bands
• Experience with and a good eye for producing video for multi-camera venues
• Ability to use (PC and Apple) computers and manage the use and access to those computers for AV needs
• Experience with the presentation software (ProPresenter 6); streaming cloud sites (Boxcast); lighting (Vista); video editing software (Premiere) is desired
• Troubleshoot AVL connections, patches, and equipment for continuity of signal and distribution
• Experience with amplifiers, projectors, mixing boards, video switcher, DVRs, or other devices that have internal software
• Perform minor repairs on low voltage equipment such as the following: replace AV XLR, 3.5mm, BNC, Cat5, HDMI, VGA connectors; repair jacks; install new cabling; replace projector bulbs and filters; change theatrical light bulbs (no high voltage or fiber optic skills required)
• Highly organized and detailed in nature
• Belief in an environment of cooperative teamwork with other members of the MPPC staff, elders, and volunteers
