Job Summary:
The Development Officer (DO) assists and supports the Director of Advancement (DA) with all fund development activities of Teen Health Connection, including donor database management (Donor Perfect), fundraising appeals, events, grant research and writing/reporting, marketing and communications as it relates to the work of fund development, and cultivation and stewardship of individual, foundation and corporate donors and funders.

Specific responsibilities:
Fundraising Appeals – The DO works with the DA and DO-C to plan and execute electronic and direct mail appeals. Responsibilities may include: project workplan development; graphic design; content writing; development of Constant Contact/social media communications; generating mailing lists; coordination with printers and mail houses; post-appeal gift processing and reporting; and follow-up with donors
Development Systems – The DO works with the DA to research, plan, implement and evaluate development systems such as Monthly Giving, Major Giving and Planned Giving
Events – The DO works with the SDO and DO-C to plan and execute fundraising and stewardship events throughout the year, including third-party fundraising events. Responsibilities may include: project workplan development; content writing; event promotion; development of Constant Contact/social media communications; serving as point of contact for events, taking lead as event planner; solicitation of in-kind and corporate donations; and more
Grants – The DO assists the DA in researching applicable funding opportunities and participates in writing grant applications/proposals and completing required reports as assigned
Donor Relations – The DO is responsible for managing donor relationships as assigned, typically at donation levels under $1,000. The DO maintains access to sensitive donor information and is expected to uphold confidentiality at all times
Marketing and Communications – The DO works closely with the DA and DO-C on marketing and communications materials/social media messaging as they relate to funding development efforts. The DO works with the DA and DO-C to ensure that there is consistent branding and messaging across a variety of communications vehicles to enhance the donor experience. The DO works with the DO-C to craft social media messages and Constant Contact content for fund development initiatives and works with graphic designers to develop collateral materials as assigned
Donor Management – The DO is responsible for working in Teen Health Connection’s donor management system – Donor Perfect. The DO takes the lead on data entry, acknowledgment processes, acknowledgment letter writing, and more
Other Duties as Assigned – The DO participates in other fund development activities and initiatives as assigned and as opportunities arise. The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and under the pressure of frequent fundraising and special event deadlines is a plus

Education, training and experience:
• Bachelor’s degree required with 3-5 years of development experience preferred
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and effective interpersonal skills preferred
• Strong working knowledge of and ability to effectively utilize donor management tools, social media, Microsoft Office and other computer applications preferred • • Experience in healthcare and/or involvement with adolescent services preferred

Physical requirements:
• The DO must be able to lift and support the weight of boxes up to 30 pounds and have the ability to handle equipment and supplies related to community-based events and activities
• The DO must have the ability to drive to locations related to fundraising events
