Website/Digital Content Manager
Overview:
The Union County Public Communications team is looking for a dynamic individual to join our award-winning team. This role, Website/Digital Content Manager, will be a key member of the team and lead the technical development and management of the County’s communication platforms including the public website, intranet, mass notification system and social media. The ideal candidate will be an innovator, self-driven and committed to continually improving the platforms we use to communicate with Union County employees and our residents.
Responsibilities:
Website Management
• Maintains the public website, including managing the content in the content management system. Manages a system that enables website content contributors throughout county departments to input content for publishing
• Leads current/ongoing website redesign projects and improvements of the public website. Participates in the core project team for website redesigns as the technical expert
• Collaborates with external vendor partner(s) to ensure the public website works optimally
• Responsible for the technical and content management of the county intranet, including evaluating potential solutions to improve its efficiency, as well as an upcoming intranet redesign project
• Tracks and uses analytics data to recommend and implement front-end and back-end changes to improve the user experience, modernize the site’s overall look and feel, enhance search results, and comply with accessibility standards
• Develops, updates, and maintains website performance reports; shares findings with the team and management as needed
• Familiar with all common web programs and formatting tools including HTML. Must have experience with common website content management systems
• Collaborates with County A/V coordinator on the Board agenda software, which interfaces meeting documentation and videos with the public website
• Creates webpages or microsites for special projects
• Uses a variety of computer software, such as web page editors, Photoshop or other graphics editors, Concrete5, DotNetNuke, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office, etc. and is competent in markup and scripting languages such as HTML
• Provides help desk support on web issues
Social media and mass communications
• Manages the content of the County’s social media channels, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Nextdoor, and YouTube. Continually evaluates social media management tools to improve efficiency
• Tracks and uses analytics data to recommend best practices for social media content
• Develops, updates, and maintains social media performance reports; manages paid advertising campaigns; shares findings with the team and management as needed
• Creates templates, bulletins, and reports in the County’s email marketing platform; automates communication between the email system and the website; manages incoming data flow from external systems; performs periodic cleanup of subscriptions and opt-outs
• Manages the technical aspects of the County’s mass notification system used to communicate alerts to the public during emergency situations
• Continuously evaluates competing communications hardware and software to ensure we are using the most efficient and effective tools to serve the public and employees
Brand and relationship management
• Collaborates with the Brand Manager to ensure all communication assets on all platforms are consistent with our brand
• Maintains positive and collaborative relationships with stakeholders throughout the County including elected officials, County managerial staff and employees, information technology professionals and vendors, IT staff, and the general public
