The Weekender is proudly presented by Charlotte Motor Speedway. Drive-in movies are back at the Speedway starting this Wednesday, June 30. Snag your tickets to catch “Trolls” on the big screen followed by a fireworks display. Plus, the event will benefit Speedway Children’s Charities.

Bar ONE Grand Opening at 6815 Phillips Place Ct.: Bar ONE, SouthPark’s newest lounge and hang-out spot, opens this Friday and will have cocktails that will center around whiskey and scotch and an abbreviated menu from the anticipated 800 Degree Woodfired Kitchen set to open on July 5. 4-11pm. Food Truck Friday at Blue Blaze Brewery at 528 South Turner Ave.: Stop by Blue Blaze Brewery for a great lineup of food trucks, cold beer and other beverage options. 4-9pm. Free. Details.

Live Under The Oaks at Birkdale Village at 8712 Lindholm Drive, Ste. 207 (The Grove): Enjoy a concert at The Grove at Birkdale Village. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket; drinks can be purchased from Red Rocks Cafe’s onsite bar. Performing this week is Tim Cook Band. Fridays, 6-8pm. Free. Details.

Crave Charlotte Salty Parrot Food Fest at 1200 South Graham St.: Head to Salty Parrot Brewing for a street food fest with beer tents, music from DJ Vinny Split and food from Jimmy Pearls Street Shack, Another!? Food Truck and Salty Parrot’s very own food truck. A ticket includes unlimited beer sampling paired with three courses from the food truck lineup. 6-9pm. $60. Details.

Modern Moxie at Camp North End at 300 Camp Rd.: Indie pop/rock band, Modern Moxie performs at Camp North End at 6pm, followed by It’s Snakes at 7:30pm. 6-7:30pm (doors at 5pm). Free. Details.

River Jam at the Whitewater Center at 5000 Whitewater Center Pkwy.: Another week, another River Jam. Bring your friends or family out to the Whitewater Center to enjoy live music performances from an array of artists across multiple genres. Taking the stage this Friday is Akita followed by Little Bird on Saturday. 6:30pm. Free, $6 parking. Details.

Charlotte Symphony Presents “Celebrate America” at Truist Field at 324 South Mint St.: Head to Truist Field to hear the Charlotte Symphony perform a medley of patriotic favorites, memorable anthems and marches. The evening will conclude with a spectacular firework show, backdropped by the gorgeous Charlotte skyline. 8:30pm. $25. Details.

City Brew Tours Charlotte Launch Day at 601 South College St.: Learn about the beer-making process from grain to glass during this one-of-a-kind brewery tour experience. City Brew Tours’ 14-passenger van will pick up tour guests outside The Westin Charlotte before making rounds to some of Charlotte’s top breweries. Times vary. $70-$99.  Details.

Uptown Farmers Market at 300 South Davidson St.: Shop from over 40 vendors selling fresh fruits and veggies, meat and poultry, and artisan foods and baked goods. Plus, the Uptown Farmers Market is on a mission to address food insecurity in our area, so consider making a donation while there. 8am to 12:30pm. Free. Details.

South End Farmers Market at 2120 South Blvd.: Swing by Atherton Mill to shop for fresh fruits and vegetables and other goods from local vendors or simply to walk along the rail trail. 8am to 1pm. Free. Details.

University City Farmers Market at 8929 J M Keynes Drive: Pick out fresh fruits and veggies and shop from local farmers, artisanal food makers and pop-up chefs. 9am to 1pm. Prices vary. Details.

OH Well: Ignite Your Light Yoga Flow at 1115 North Brevard St.: Start your Saturday with an energizing yoga flow with Chakti Yoga at Optimist Hall. 10-11am. Details.

Connor’s Birthday Festival of Caring at 3224 Medlin Rd.: *Trigger Warning — Mention of suicide.* This annual charity event is held in honor of a young boy named Connor who committed suicide in 2018 after being bullied at school. This year’s event will include local food trucks and vendors, games, pony rides, a petting zoo, hayrides arts and crafts and a potential car show to honor what would have been Connor’s 16th birthday. Noon to 7pm. Details.

Sidewalk Market Saturdays at 7th Stree Public Market at 224 East 7th St.: Grab lunch at the market then peruse through the various local vendors selling body products, food and more. 11am to 4pm. Free. Details.

Charlotte F.C. Paper Airplane Contest at Catawba Brewing Co. at 933 Louise Ave. #105: Join The Soccer Foundation of Charlotte for its 2nd annual Paper Airplane Fundraiser at Catawba Brewing. You can test your paper airplane-making, and throwing skills while also providing after-school soccer and literacy programming at Title 1 Elementary Schools in Charlotte. 11am to 2pm. $5-$30. Dog-Friendly Luau Party at Skiptown at 222 Rampart St.: Skiptown is turning into a puppy paradise for the day. Humans can enjoy island music, pineapple soft serve from Hula Whip, Luau Punch and a limbo contest. Pups who dress up for this tropical party will receive a voucher for a free “puppuccino.” Noon to 6pm. Free for people, $15 for dogs unless a Skiptown member. Details.

Crave Charlotte Festival at 932 Seigle Ave.: Experience wine, cocktails, craft brews and exceptional plates prepared by 25+ local chefs and mixologists as a part of the Crave Charlotte food festival. 1pm. Details.

Science on Screen: Back to the Future II at Discovery Place Science at 301 North Tryon St.: This afternoon for adults will begin with a keynote by IBM Fellow Rhonda Childress, followed by a screening of Back to the Future II and a private viewing of the latest traveling exhibition, Artificial Intelligence: Your Mind & the Machine. 2:30pm. $15. Drag Brunch at Billy Sunday at 1115 North Brevard St.: Billy Sunday hosts its first-ever drag brunch featuring Onya Nerves. Tickets include a breakfast buffet from Ava, brunch punch and, of course, the show. 11am to 2pm. $35. Details.

Yoga On The Rooftop with the Harvey B. Gantt Center: Join yoga instructor Sajeedah Jones “SJ” on the rooftop of the Harvey B. Gantt Center for an energizing and inspiring yoga session that will get you in the right mindset to start your week on the right foot. Following the practice, you can treat yourself to a self-guided tour of the Gantt Center’s galleries. Bring a mat or beach towel. 12:30-1:30pm. $10. Details.

Summer Sunday Sip & Savor Lincoln Street Kitchen & Cocktails at 1320 South Church St.: The week-long Crave Charlotte festival comes to an end with an extraordinary multi-course dinner paired with cocktails, wine & bubbles at Lincoln Street Kitchen & Cocktails. 6pm. Details.
