Position goal:
To assist in the accounting operations within the organization to ensure that data provided to upper management will be effective and accurate.

This position will work with the controller in performing and coordinating accounting duties within our organization. The Senior Accountant’s responsibilities include preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, assisting in preparation of tax returns, assisting with audit preparations, and performing other accounting duties as assigned. The role includes a solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and strong financial analysis skills. The position requires a candidate that has strong Excel skills, is detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work with little to no supervision and perform under pressure.

Essential skills and knowledge:
• Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
• Basic understanding of inventory control and costing methods
• In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Awareness of accounting trends
• Familiarity with financial accounting statements
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet software
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with a constant stream of deadlines
• Strong understanding of federal, state and local tax regulations

Essential functions and responsibilities:
• Preparing financial statements
• Assessing internal controls, including risk assessments and reviews of risk areas
• Performing monthly balance sheet, income statement and changes in financial position/budget variance analyses
• Assisting in the design and preparation of budgets for review by management
• Assisting in the yearly audit process
• Assisting in the yearly income tax return process
• Fixed Asset management and maintenance
• Oversight of Sales and Use tax reporting
• Reviewing Accounting procedures to ensure the processes are the most efficient
• Contributing to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures.
• Investigating and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance
• Timely preparation of monthly financial reporting
• Backup to Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable during absences


• Bachelors degree in Accounting
• 3 years experience in a general accounting role
