From house fires to burst pipes, Best Cleanup is the company Charlotteans call after the worst happens.

After strong storms moved through the area last summer, many Charlotte homeowners were left with fallen trees on their properties. The super unlucky ones ended up with trees (and lots of water) inside their homes.

The Best Cleanup team helped clean and restore many of those homes.

“Most people don’t know what restoration professionals do,” says Jose Rodriguez, founder of Best Cleanup. “We show up, usually after people have had a really bad day, and we help mitigate.”

The 24/7 emergency restoration company offers a variety of services, including:

  • Water damage restoration
  • Fire damage restoration
  • Smoke cleanup
  • Mold remediation
  • Commercial services

The most common reasons people call Best Cleanup are: burst pipes, fires and storm damage, says Rodriguez. His team can be at a property within 2 hours of being called.

Background: Rodriguez has been in the industry for 23 years. He started Best Cleanup in 2006 after leaving another restoration company.

“I had gained a lot of experience and knowledge and decided I wanted to start my own business,” he says.

Jose holds multiple certifications from the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration including Mold, Water and Fire Services.

  • He is also an independent adjuster, a licensed general contractor and holds a certification in Microbial Remediation Project Management from the University of Michigan.

How the Best Cleanup process works:

First things first: When someone calls Best Cleanup, their team will show up on-site to assess the damage and give an estimate on the scope of work.

The team will then work on cleaning the damaged area. If there’s water involved, they’ll set up drying and filtration equipment to make sure the space is completely dry before repairing.

Throughout the process, Best Cleanup will work with you and your insurance company to make sure your deductible is the only out-of-pocket cost.

  • “We are very familiar with insurance companies,” says Rodriguez. “We know how to negotiate with them and try to advocate for the client.”

One word of advice: Rodriguez warns homeowners to not try and restore damage themselves. It’s a common mistake people make and often times it makes the situation even worse.

For example, if water damage isn’t cleaned and dried correctly, it can become a breeding ground for mold and mildew. Yikes.

No one wants to have a reason to call a restoration company, but if you do end up in that situation, it’s helpful to know Rodriguez and his team are there.

  • “I want people to know that when something goes wrong, there are people out there who have dedicated their lives to getting places back together,” says Rodriguez.
