The brewery with locations in Hendersonville and Lake Norman quietly opened its newest location in Uptown on Friday.
Why it matters: Uptown’s been painfully quiet since the pandemic began, with more businesses closing than opening. D9 gives Charlotteans a new reason to venture to center city even as most office buildings are still closed.
This new location’s biggest draw will be the outdoor pavilion, which will include a brewing area, screen for watching games, and stage for live music. The area is under construction now and set to open in late May/early June.
Beer: D9 sells beers on draft, cans and bottles. The Uptown location has some of the same beers as Lake Norman and some new additions. General manager and head brewer Carli Smith tells me she plans to experiment with new beers at the new location. She also plans to serve seltzers and seltzer slushies.
“We like to push the boundaries of what you would normally find in your beer,” Smith said. “(We try) to expand horizons with new beer styles.”
Coffee: D9 Uptown also serves Javesca Coffee. The coffee shop portion of D9 offers a variety of drinks from drip coffee to nitro coffee to cappuccinos and lattes.
Right now Javesca is open from 6am to 2pm daily, except for Wednesday and Sunday.
Hours and location: The brewery is located at the bottom of the Savoy Apartment complex building at 650 E Stonewall St. Unit D.
It’s open from 2pm to 10pm Monday – Wednesday; 2pm to 11pm on Thursdays; 1pm to 11pm on Fridays; noon to 11pm on Saturday; and noon to 9pm on Sunday.
