Zillow shared the most popular words used in listings nationally and locally. Surprisingly, “fireplace” was No. 1 in Charlotte. Less so, “bar” was No. 14 of 210 most-used terms.
These terms are what listing agents choose to highlight about homes that they think will catch a potential buyer’s attention.
Real estate agent Lisa Warren says most Charlotte buyers want an open floor plan, modern/updated finishes, outdoor living space, walkability, natural light and hardwood floors. The top 10 most-used words in Charlotte real estate listings line up closely with what Warren says are priorities for buyers.
- We tested this in real-time and all 10 of the most recent listings added to Zillow included at least two of these terms.
Top 10 Zillow terms:
- Fireplace (34.9%)
- Granite (33.8%)
- Garage (29.2%)
- Hardwood (27.6%)
- Patio (26.9%)
- Walk-in closet (26.3%)
- Pool (23.5%)
- Stainless steel (23%)
- Fenced (back)yard (20.2%)
- Open floor plan (19.6%)
The Charlotte buyer isn’t all that different from the average national buyer, as most of the top terms used locally are also common in other markets. Nationally, pet-friendly condo and bar are in the top 10 most-used terms. In Charlotte, those terms rank 12 and 14, respectively.
