Once again, North Carolina has the honor of growing the White House Christmas tree.

  • A family farm in Jefferson, Peak Farms, run by Russell Estes and his son Beau, will load up the chosen 20-foot Fraser fir this week before it makes its journey to Washington, as WFAE reported.
Why it matters: We’re good at growing trees. It’s the third time Peak Farms has supplied a White House tree, and the 13th time a North Carolina tree has had the honor since 1971.

Here are 78 tree farms within driving distance of Charlotte to pick out or chop down your own Christmas tree.
