If you’re proud of the traditional toothy grin on your jack-o-lantern this year, you’re about to schooled in the art of elaborate pumpkin carving. GUTS is back for its 7th year bringing creative professionals together for a friendly battle of the gourds. The pumpkin carving competition was created as a team-bonding activity by CRAFTED, a local marketing agency, but it has grown into a full-blown community event.
Fast Facts
- GUTS is a charitable fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish foundation. Money is raised through carver registration fees, a silent auction of the carved pumpkins and food/drink/merchandise sales at the event.
- There are two divisions, individual and team, and there must be at least one pumpkin per participant. Participants must provide their own pumpkins and tools. (Sorry, but registration is closed for this year’s event. You can still come and watch though.)
- 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners will be selected by a panel of judges but they’ve also added a People’s Choice award for audience participation.
- Finished pumpkins are auctioned off to raise more money for Make-A-Wish at the end of the night.
