The Agenda Weekender is proudly presented by Speedway Drive-In. This summer Charlotte Motor Speedway is hosting drive-in movies every Wednesday night. Catch “RUSH” on September 2. Admission is $30 per car. Snag a ticket.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 28

Open Swim at the Quarry at Carrigan Farms: Visitors can cool off in the natural, spring-feed quarry. Open Swim will run from now until about mid-September. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Details.

Summer Nights at The Warehouses on White: Head over to The Warehouses on White for meals on wheels from King of Fire Pizza food truck, Nacho Average Truck food truck, and Super Icy Brothers. The Mercantile, a 5,000-square-foot Indie shop within The Warehouse, will be staying open for extended shopping hours. 5-9 p.m. Details

Beginner Hand Embroidery with Skillpop: Try your hand at hand embroidery. Local embroidery artist Valerie Evans of Plaid Love Threads, will teach basic stitching techniques and assist you in creating a piece of hoop art. No prior knowledge required. $20. 5-6:30 p.m. Details.

Joe Gransden: Songs of Sinatra and Friends at Middle C Jazz: Spend an evening with jazz trumpeter and vocalist Joe Gransden. Known for his big band, and hard bop influences, Joe is often compared to Frank Sinatra and Chet Baker. $32 club seating. 7 p.m. & 9 p.m. Details

Laugh at Lenny at Lenny Boy Brewing Co.: Have a laugh and a beer at Lenny Boy Brewing Co. This socially distanced, outdoor comedy show will have a line up of some of North Carolina’s best comedians. Seating in groups of two and four, all spaced six feet apart. Free. 8-10 p.m. Details

DropSound HIIT with Caitlin Gulley at Pinhouse: Head over to the Pinhouse turf for a 40-minute full-body workout led by fitness instructor Caitlin Gulley. This class will combine bodyweight strength conditioning and high-intensity cardio intervals. $20. 11-11:45 a.m. Details.

The Drive-in, Poetic Edition at Charlotte Art League: Drive out to hear local spoken word poets, singers, and musicians share their talents in a unique drive-in event. Tickets are $5 per person and $10 per car. 4-6 p.m. Details.

Community Give Back at Crown Point Plaza: Support the Butterfly Visions Project, a nonprofit advocacy group for victims of domestic and sexual violence, by donating a case of water at this Community Give Back event.
