Retired Carolina Panthers running back, Jonathan Stewart, and his wife Natalie recently let us come to their SouthPark home and take a peek inside their custom his and hers closets.
Power couple: You might recognize Jonathan Stewart’s name from his time spent playing as #28 for the Carolina Panthers. He spent 10 years as a running back for the team after being a first round draft pick in 2008. He retired last year but he’ll always be a fan favorite.
Natalie is a co-owner of Charlotte Lately and a Charlotte influencer in her own right (she personally has over 13,000 followers on Instagram). She and Jonathan are active philanthropists, involved with organizations such as Inspire the Fire. They have a daughter named Kaia and recently added a dog to the fam. His name is Nike.
Their home: The Stewarts moved into their Kingswood Custom Homes-built SouthPark home about a year ago. Natalie drew inspiration from her Laguna Beach roots and infused a West Coast vibe throughout. There are even crystals in their fireplace, which is something I didn’t even know was an option.
“Kingswood built Greg and Kara Olsen’s home so they came highly recommended,” says Natalie. “They were amazing and they were also the ones who recommended California Closets.”
And by far, one of the most impressive parts of their home are their custom his and hers closets designed by California Closets.
“For my closet, I wanted it to feel like a boutique,” says Natalie. “I didn’t want anything crazy but I wanted to be able to see everything and have it all be organized.”
California Closets design consultant Claire Williams worked closely with Natalie and Louise Leeke of Kingswood Custom Homes to design their one-of-a-kind closet spaces.
Here’s what you’ll find in Natalie’s closet:
- A custom island with drawer organizers
- Mirrored cabinets and built-in shelving
- A custom vanity area
- Marble countertops on the island and vanity
- Classic White and Linen finishes
- White hardware provided by Kingswood
“The simple, yet elegant, features of Natalie’s closet designed to meet her needs make it a space that is fun yet functional,” says Claire.
Of course Natalie added her own flair to the space as well, including a custom art piece from Elisabeth Rose, a cactus from City Stems, stool from House of Nomad, and crystals from The Golden Carrot.
When it comes to clothes and accessories, Natalie says “I’m more of a T-shirt and jeans kind of girl.” But when she needs something a little more dressy, she likes to hit up Capitol or Poole Shop in SouthPark. She also loves Boem for casual pieces and Shop Well Kept for athletic wear.
“Jonathan’s closet is completely decked out,” says Natalie, who points to his shoe wall as the focal point of the closet. “He absolutely loves shoes.”
Not included on the impressive shoe wall are stacks of custom pairs, which he keeps safely in boxes.
“The customized lighting, leather wrapped drawers and extensive shoe shelving are among the unique elements of Jonathan’s closet,” says Claire.
Here’s what you’ll find in Jonathan’s closet:
- Extensive lighting
- A mix of California’s Closets’ Classic and Virtuoso systems
- Aluminum framed drawer fronts with leather inserts
- Capri doors with mirrored inserts
- Capri finish
The rug that runs down the middle of Jonathan’s closet is from @KrazyForRugs, an Instagram account run by a local woman who sells rugs out of her house. Wild.
Two of the coolest things you’ll find in Jonathan’s closet are his touchdown ball from Super Bowl 50, along with his 2015 NFC Championship ring.
