Jewelry Design & Production Lead (HIRED)
Overview:
Fashion & Compassion is a 501c3 non-profit organization empowering women who are overcoming vulnerable situations including addiction, incarceration, human trafficking, abuse, and ethnic persecution. We empower the women, whom we refer to as Artisans, by connecting them to a supportive community. They come together to make beautiful jewelry and accessories that are then sold through our local boutique and other channels. We also partner with similar organizations in developing countries, enabling us to empower women and families both locally and globally. The Jewelry Design and Production Lead position is responsible for designing jewelry and working with the local Artisans to ensure all jewelry is produced timely and of high quality. Additionally, the role will ensure the jewelry component inventory is maintained in an orderly fashion to mitigate any negative impact to production.

Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with Executive Director and other team members as necessary to design jewelry
• Maintain awareness of market styles and trends, ordering components for design samples
• Incorporate design elements into marketable products in line with Fashion & Compassion customer demographics to include costing and pricing considerations
• Ensure designs can be executed by Artisans at various skill levels
• Create design samples for review, modification and approval
• Create detailed spec sheets for finalized designs
• Plan and oversee the production of jewelry to ensure deadlines are met
• Instruct artisans on jewelry making techniques including beading, wire-wrapping, crimping, etc.; assist artisans where necessary during production
• Oversee quality control and make modifications/suggestions as necessary to improve quality and integrity of jewelry, complying with quality standards
• Provide leadership to the Artisans during the weekly jewelry project sessions to ensure an atmosphere of support, encouragement and productivity; refer any behavioral issues to the Artisan Empowerment Coordinator
• Finish more complex jewelry designs as needed
• Submit finished goods input sheet for inventory management
• Recommend improvements to the operation of jewelry production
• Maintain jewelry component inventory and ensure proper levels at all times, ordering when necessary
• Submit Mexico partner component order requests to Operations Coordinator
• Maintain an orderly, organized jewelry “room”
• Support Boutique operations by greeting customers and ringing up purchases
• Periodically participate in offsite marketplaces to support jewelry sales
Experience:
• 2+ years of jewelry making including finish work
• Production Management
• Quality Control
• Utilization of technology tools including Microsoft Office to accomplish responsibilities
