A new, nearly 22,000-square-foot Planet Fitness, a gym known for its low cost and “No Judgement Zone,” will open Uptown in 2020.

“Uptown Charlotte is a flourishing area with more than 28 million square feet of office space, as well as high-density residential areas and athletic event facilities,” said Shane McGuinness, co-owner of Planet Fitness Southeast. “Our newest Planet Fitness location aims to provide better quality and more affordable service to the people who live and work in those spaces.”

This is the gym’s 10th Charlotte location, and you can expect four more locations to open in the Charlotte area — in Matthews, Camfield Corners, Rozzelle Crossing, and Northlake Mall.

Rates: Membership pricing hasn’t been set yet for Uptown, but the gym’s South End location has two options for either $10 a month or $22.99 for the PF Black Card with more perks. You’re not locked into a commitment, and you only have to put 25 cents down.

You can join the gym’s mailing list here to get updates and a discounted membership rate that won’t be offered once the Uptown club opens.

Location: The exact location is 201 S. Tryon Street. It’s next to Vapiano and the new U.S. Bank branch.

The gym will have Tryon Street signage and an entrance, but the bulk of its space will be in the basement level of the building, according to Adam Williams of Legacy Real Estate, who handles ground-floor retail leasing for 201 S. Tryon. Atlantic Retail represented Planet Fitness in the lease.
