Arrow, a straightforward barbershop with five chairs and retro vibes, opens today at South End’s Atherton.
The exact address is 2028 South Boulevard, Suite 1A; it’s near the Sephora and NOVEL Atherton entrance facing South Boulevard.
The concept comes from brothers Andy and Pete Phipps who already opened six locations in the Raleigh area. This is Arrow’s first Charlotte shop.
Pete told the Agenda that the growth allows them to promote and hire more people, while offering health benefits to more employees.
“The more we grow, the more we can take better care of our team,” Pete says. “Troy (a barber) moved over to Raleigh to join our company two years ago. When the opportunity to open in Charlotte came about, he jumped at the opportunity to move back home and help bring a place where customers can get a quality haircut or straight razor shave and a complimentary craft beer at an affordable price point to his hometown.”
Services: They offer short cuts, buzz cuts, shampoos, hot shaves, long cuts, and mid cuts. All cuts come with one of their beers, created in collaboration with Fullsteam (kids get a lollipop).
Pricing: A standard men’s cut is $23 and mid and long cuts are $30 and $40 respectively. A hot shave is $25.
Design: The layout is simple: five chairs, a shampoo station, waiting area, check-out counter. The design incorporates various collectable sports-related memorabilia, giant patterned flags, classic toolboxes at each station, and a simple red and blue color palette, giving it a retro “Sand Lot” vibe.
Grand opening: To celebrate the Charlotte opening, you can snag a free haircut coupon here.
Hours: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday-Friday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday-Sunday; closed on Monday.
