McKenna Bleu, a fashion lifestyle influencer with more than 262,000 Instagram followers, let us into her three-story Madison Park townhouse. McKenna and her now husband, Russ Adams, moved into their new home in February of this year.

“I couldn’t be happier to be a homeowner, after years of renting, moving from place to place it feels good to plant roots and start building a life here in my hometown,” McKenna told the Agenda. “Shortly after meeting my now husband, we knew we wanted to find a house we could grow into, host family and friends, and be close to some of our favorite bars and restaurants.”

When they started looking for a place, McKenna requested tons of windows for natural light and to take the reins on design.

“I’m pretty sure it was on the table during our first date conversation. He needed to know what he was getting into with marrying and sharing a home with me (ha!) I told him, I don’t need crazy fancy things, but when it comes to decorating a home it was a big passion of mine and I would need to take the lead. Luckily, he liked me and my taste so things worked out. … I included him on larger items for our space, but when it came to details and small touches, some guys don’t really get it until they see it all put together which is where I took the lead.”

Shops and inspiration

Let me upgrade you: McKenna definitely had a vision for her home, and she and Russ love home-improvement projects. So before moving in, they replaced all of the carpets with hardwood and added shiplap in the stairway on all three levels to brighten the space and add more personal flare.

“I’m a big bathtub girl and unfortunately our house came with all showers, so I’m looking to remodel our bathroom and also possibly upgrading our granite countertops in the future.”

Pretty in Pink: McKenna’s Girly Wing is absolute goals — it’s a feminine sanctuary and workspace filled with feminine accents and of course, pink.

“I would say my girly wing is def a place I love spending my mornings drinking coffee and working home from. When I met my fiancé I had a hot pink couch, so he kinda knew what he was getting himself into living with me! I’m fortunate to marry a guy who lets me turn a wing of our townhouse into my girly sanctuary.”

Blank canvas:“For the most part, I love keeping the base of each room on the white side. Then I build up the color by incorporating pillows, art work and rugs. This makes for an easy transition to refresh any room when I have the itch to change it up.”

In some rooms, like McKenna’s Girly Wing, you see tons pink rugs and punchy throw pillows and blankets, and other rooms have a more coastal vibe with neutrals and shades of blue. She says having a white background makes changing the look up easier, and leaves room to create more masculine motifs for her husband.

This LoveSac Sectional is their fav piece. McKenna had it in her old apartment, and they added more pieces to fill their current living room. “I love the look of an all-white couch and trust me lots of red-wine sipping is happening on that couch. The good news is the covers are 100 percent machine washable, making it both pet, kid and wine friendly.”

Final Cut: In her Girly Wing, McKenna wanted all things Anthropologie, and the 7-foot Gleaming Primrose Mirror was at the top of her must-have list.

“I found out about Final Cut Georgia which happens to be Anthropologie’s Outlet in Augusta, GA. It’s by no means a beautiful set up like our Anthro store, more of a warehouse feel that is a hit-or-miss-situation.”

She’s made the trip a few times and has stockpiled gorgeous rugs (her newest obsession) and found other home accessories at steep discounts.

Exit 25 Home Goods: McKenna hits up Home Goods weekly, specifically the one in Huntersville at Exit 25 off I-77 (it really is the best one). Other regular favorites include Wayfair, Target, Etsy (Defined Designs Pillow Shop) and West Elm. Locally, McKenna loves Nadeau off South Boulevard — they got their dining room table, living room TV console and a few other items there.

Stuck on Bleu: “I’m also really loving wallpaper right now, so with the help of the ladies at Celedore off Park Road, we picked out a few wallpaper options that totally transformed our space!”

They also sell Farrow & Ball paint, which is the dark navy paint used for the master bedroom accent wall.

“At the end of the day, the most important job you have is within the walls of your own home. We couldn’t be happier with our new home and the memories we will make here. Lucky for me, my husband is a realtor, so we are always searching for land in hopes of building our own house one day soon, so stay tuned for that!”
