Revolution Park Sports Academy is a gorgeous 30,000-square-foot L.E.E.D-certified athletic complex on Remount Road and I had no idea it was there.
The all-ages recreational complex features a gym with cardio equipment and weights, group fitness classes, a boxing ring and a golf course. With a focus on “life skills development for youth and teens through non-traditional sports, fitness programs and after school enrichment programs,” the academy is home to four youth recreational programming partners.
Charlotte Boxing Academy: Created in 1987, CBA is a youth amateur boxing league for boys and girls ages 8-17.
Charlotte Flights Track Club: Created in 1991, CFTC provides fitness training, participation in regional and national competitions and college prep for students ages 5-18.
Cross-Country for Youth: CCYF is a cross-country training and character-building program for boys and girls ages 9-14.
Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Activities League: Since 1968, PAL has provided supervised athletic programs as well as educational after school and summer enrichment programs to Charlotte-area students.
Here’s a look at the space.
The craziest thing about this beautiful, mission-oriented place is how cheap it is. Memberships are just $12/month ($10 if you sign up for autopay) or $3 for a daily drop-in.

Revolution Park Sports Academy is also located on the Dr. Charles L. Sifford Golf Course, a 9-hole regulation length course. Founded in the 1930s (and originally named Bonnie Brae Golf Course), the course banned African-American players until 12 men filed a suit that granted the right to play to all people following a 1957 Supreme Court Ruling.
Today, each of the nine holes is dedicated to a person who impacted the course’s evolution, and hole #1 (and the entire course) now bears the name of Dr. Charlie Sifford, the first black player to tee off at the formerly all-white course after the ruling. He has been referred to as the Jackie Robinson of golf.
Revolution Park Sports Academy is located at 1225 Remount Road.
