Hello Friday.

I think I found the cheapest gym membership in Charlotte. Revolution Sports Academy on Remount Road is just $12/month or $3/day. I stopped in because I spotted the gorgeous eco-friendly L.E.E.D. certified building in passing and wanted to know what it was.

Turns out Revolution Sports Academy is a 30,000 square-foot “green” facility with recreational programming for all ages and a focus on life skills development for youth. There’s a small but sufficient gym with weights and cardio equipment, personal trainers on staff, group fitness classes and a golf course. It’s also home to the Charlotte Boxing Academy. Check it out.

ORIGINALS

Transplants unite: The best Charlotte bars to watch your favorite NFL team [Dunn]
I think it’s safe to say most of Charlotte stands behind the Panthers, but what if you’re a transplant (there are lots of us) who’s still committed to your original hometown team? No worries. Erin rounded up a list of 31 Charlotte bars with loyal ties to specific NFL teams.

Hobo’s helps drive dining traffic to downtown Fort Mill [Levans]
Historic downtown Fort Mill is cute but Baxter Village across the interstate crushes it on food options. I checked out a new burger joint that opened earlier this year and is helping draw people back to Main Street with things like a burger stuffed inside two grilled cheese sandwiches instead of a bun.

7 things the casual Panthers fan should know about this season [Long]
We’re not in the business of deep sports analysis because other outlets already do it better. Tim tells you where to find that kind of coverage and breaks down other important fan basics like where to park, which bar is best on game day and how to score a cheap ticket.

Add one more stop to your foodie tour of Davidson: The Pickled Peach [McLamb]
Kindred is getting tons of national press but Amanda says another Davidson restaurant just down the street is not to be overlooked. She ranks six menu items from The Pickled Peach and now all I want is that cheese-crusted grilled cheese. Cheese.

Tips for renting in Charlotte: My conversation with a property manager [Gross]
I needed this piece 10 years ago when I launched into my lifetime of leases. Mary pulls practical tips on amenities, appliances, security deposits and dynamic rent prices. Very best question with the very best answer: “How do we drive these Millennials out of town?”

All you need to know about Wine + Design Charlotte [Smith]
Vanessa went to a team-building event that involves drinking wine and painting the Charlotte skyline. Beats the trust falls Ted makes us do every morning at the Agenda global headquarters.

Mecktoberfest to kick off fall beer festivals this month [Dunn]
Olde Mecklenburg Brewery’s popular fall beer festival will be back for its seventh year September 25 to 27. The free festival runs from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and features live music, traditional German food and plenty of beer.

TALKING POINTS

The Rugby Athletic Center was your top pick for the new Food Truck Friday lot [Dunn/Agenda]. Andrew threw out seven possible replacements for the South End Food Truck Friday lot that will be in search of a new home as soon as early 2016. We took it to a vote and the Rugby Athletic Center was the clear winner. This doesn’t mean it’ll happen but we’ll continue to update you on this story as it evolves.

Alino Pizzeria expanding out of state. The Mooresville location has only been open since late March, but its owners are taking the concept to Fort Lawn, South Carolina and Jefferson, Georgia. Read our review of the restaurant.

Site-to-store pickup lockers installed at Lowe’s in South End [Peralta/Observer]. Customers can shop online and pick their items up in the lockers 24/7, but the service is just a temporary test for now.

The Yiasou Greek Festival is back [Yiasou]. Stop by Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral on East Boulevard now through Sunday for cathedral tours, live entertainment and lots of food. The baklava sundae is a must.

Queen City Forward’s ThinkPlenty Conference is next week [Queen City Forward]. The two-day conference breaks participants into teams to rapidly build and prototype solutions to alleviate hunger and increase access to food in Charlotte. Tickets are $15 before Monday ($10 for students).

If you get a chance, drive by this memorial on East Boulevard or this one at Romare Bearden Park with a flag for each life lost on 9/11. Both are a sobering reminder of the weight this date carries 14 years later.
