Around the World Café, a boba tea and rolled ice cream shop, has quietly opened in the space previously occupied by Penn Station Subs in Madison Park at 5110 Park Road.
This family- and women-owned business is a welcome addition to a neighborhood with a serious lack of boba tea. And who doesn’t love more ice cream?
The café is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
Background: Owners Nicole Corso-Vu and her mother Sandy Corso share a passion for traveling and have visited many parts of Asia together (Vietnam, Japan, China, Thailand.) Sandy passed her love of and skill for baking to her daughter, and the pair has combined these interests to open the café.
What’s on the menu? Several milk teas (including crowd-favorite Thai Tea), fruit teas, Vietnamese iced coffee and rolled ice cream, with plans to add more items as time goes on. They also keep a selection of baked goods on hand (cookies, muffins, lemon bars, etc.) and are very open to customer suggestions.
Don’t forget to add your boba, baby boba or grass jelly to any drink for 50 cents.
Oh, and add milk cap, an incredible mixture of cream cheese and a dash of pink Himalayan sea salt, to your tea. It’s popular in China and Taiwan and is a milk tea game-changer. ($1)
Keeping it Real: No powders are used in the creation of their drinks. They also use organic milk and have lactose-free milk available. And they believe in wasting as little as possible. For example, their ice cream only uses egg yolks, so they whipped up macarons using the egg whites. Smart.
