Sal’s Pizza Factory is taking the Charlotte pizza scene by storm.
Owner Fabio Druazzo, originally from Naples, Italy, named the casual spot on Monroe Road after his dad. He opened in the summer of 2018 and has been creating a lot of positive buzz with his unexpected pizza topping combos like steak and fries, Buffalo chicken, taco and more.
It might sound a little out there, especially for a guy from the birth place of authentic pizza, but Charlotte is definitely into it. Sal’s has a 4.5-star rating on Yelp and 4.7-star rating on Google.
There are more than 30 pizza options at Sal’s — from classic Sicilian to out-of-the-box toppings like shrimp scampi and bacon cheeseburger.
Head to the front counter where you can see the pizzas on display and place your order.
You can order by the slice priced $2.25 to $4 each or get a full pie for anywhere from $12.95 to $24.95 for a large.
Not sure where to start? The Sal’s Special with pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, onion and peppers is a popular choice for traditional topping purists. For the vegetarians, check out the eggplant ricotta or the bruschetta piled high with chopped buffalo mozzarella, tomatoes, garlic and basil.
When you’re ready to really venture out, go for any of the chicken options (Buffalo, BBQ or Alfredo). It’s not so photogenic but people love it.
