JW Marriott is one of Marriott’s premiere flags. It’s right up there with the Ritz and St. Regis, and now Charlotte is getting one its own.
Currently Uptown has two five-star hotels – the Ritz and Ivey’s – and we need more. The incoming Intercontinental and Grand Bohemian will undoubtedly be beautiful but not quite the level of a Ritz or JW Marriott.
Here’s what you need to know about the project:
– 381 rooms
– Located at Ally Charlotte Center (aka Tryon Place)
– 21 floors
– Two ground floor retail spaces for a bar and a restaurant
– 20,000 square feet of meeting and event space
The beauty of this hotel is astounding and will be, without a doubt, one of the best looking buildings in Uptown. Renderings show a glass facade facing the Ally Charlotte Center – it’s gorgeous and really stands out from other projects around town.
The plan is for the plaza bar to interact with the sidewalk to really integrate with Stonewall. The same can be said for the restaurant patio. An expansive patio will sit right on Stonewall and is a perfect example of engaging the street.
The plans for the decor of the bar and restaurant look top notch and adds the level of modern elegance expected of a JW Marriott.
Based on early plans, this project is really going to accomplish all it sets out to do.
It adds a five-star hotel and highly respected brand, fantastic design, ground-floor pedestrian engagement and modern architecture we can all get excited about.
White Lodging is developing this with Crescent. This is currently under construction with Ally Charlotte Center (office and retail anchored by Ally Financial) and is slated to be complete in 2021.
