River Slam is this weekend at the US National Whitewater Center. Races, activities and a cornhole tournament should keep you entertained in between music. Mofro is great, so if you can make it Friday night, do it.
Times listed are when the show is scheduled to start, not when the doors open. Unless listed otherwise, prices are before taxes and fees.
Agenda Picks
- 8/5/15: Hot Club of Cowtown, Neighborhood Theatre, 8pm, $22-$32. Hot Club of Cowtown is a western swing band that plays a wide range of music from Chicago-style jazz to fast-paced country, and does so with a guitar, a fiddle and a bass.
- 8/7/15: JJ Grey & Mofro, Jon Stickley Trio; US National Whitewater Center, 7pm, free. US National Whitewater Center’s River Slam kicks off the weekend with Jon Stickley Trio and JJ Grey & Mofro. Grey has one of the more passionate, unique voices in music today. I’m not sure how he can sustain it night in and night out, but he manages, and puts on a great show.
