Love sushi? Me too. Here’s a list of the 8 weirdest sushi dishes found in Charlotte because it’s time to take your sushi cravings to the next level.
(1) Poke Tacos ($3/each on Tuesday) — Seoul Poke Bowl
Tacos are $3 each. Your choice of protein + seaweed salad, cabbage, and sauce.
(2) Sear-iously Sensational Sushi Sandwich, aka the 4-S ($16) — Cowfish
What is it? Seared Koji marinated tuna and yellowtail, Asian slaw, red peppers, daikon sprouts, cucumber, served on grilled spring roll wrapper “buns” filled with kani and sushi rice. Served with a side of sambal sesame soy.
(3) Sushi Sandwich ($7) — Ramen Soul
This creation is only served at lunch and comes with a side. Current options include: Bacon and Egg, Eggplant Avocado Arugula, Teriyaki Smoked Salmon and Sashimi Tuna.
(4) Sweet Potato Sushi Roll ($9.50) — Living Kitchen
Okay, this is kind of a stretch. I get it. What’s inside this Vegan roll? Avocado, red bell peppers, cucumbers, arugula and sweet potato cashew rice wrapped in nori, served with a lightly spiced Thai chili sauce
(5) Fiji Salmon Roll ($14) — CO
No rice! What’s inside? Spicy tuna, avocado, cucumber, togarashi, green onion, micro greens, wrapped in salmon and served in citrus ponzu.

(7) Sushi Croissant ($8) — Pop Up
Chef Sadruddin Abdullah, a former Johnson & Wales instructor and local dessert pioneer, occasionally creates these sushi croissants and they’re stuffed with smoked salmon, wasabi, nori, spices and secret sauces.
Follow on Instagram for availability (it’s hard to find and he typically only makes batches of 100).

(8) Sushi Burrito ($11) – Bonsai Fusion
Sushi burritos are now popular throughout the city, but to my knowledge, Bonsai Fusion was the the first to bring this dish to Charlotte (and poke bowls too).
What’s inside? Spicy tuna, edamame hummus, spring mix, carrots, beets, cilantro, jalapeño, avocado and a delicious chipotle honey sauce wrapped in a flour tortilla.
Now, the only one question remains: Which sushi restaurant will be the first to offer as sushi donut in Charlotte? I’m waiting…
