Inner Peaks Climbing Center announced at the first of the year that they’ll be opening a second location in South End. According to co-owner Page Lee, they have not set a public opening date but ongoing construction updates on their Facebook page state it’s “ahead of schedule.”
The 15,000-square-foot venue located at 2220 S. Tryon (about a block from Tremont Music Hall) will feature climbing walls as well as space for yoga, cardio and other fitness activities. From Inner Peaks’ Facebook page:
“Topout and drop-down bouldering. 40 foot roped walls, including full-height crack climbs. Regulation speed climbing lanes. Fitness & cardio area. Climbing-specific training equipment. Charlotte’s newest climbing gym—coming soon—is owned and operated by the same climbers who have been serving the Queen City’s indoor climbing needs for almost 20 years! We hope you are all as excited as we are!”
The flagship Inner Peaks location opened on Monroe Road near Matthews back in 1998 and made a name for itself as the largest, full-service indoor climbing gym in the Charlotte area. The South End location will be 2,000 square feet larger and its 40-foot walls will climb 15 feet higher.
Currently, adult day passes are $18 for unlimited climbing or you can get a 6-month membership for $69/month + the 7th month free. According to their Facebook page, one membership will allow access to both locations for a limited time.
