I just finished reading Marie Kondo’s “Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up” and can’t decide if she’s a raging lunatic or my spirit animal. On one hand, she thinks socks have feelings, says to open drawers of rarely worn clothes and run your hands over them to “energize” them from time to time, believes you should empty your purse out every single day (no) and strongly recommends thanking every item in your possession for the role it plays in your life.
On the other hand… by sticking to her bizarre “KonMari” method I made $300 in two days selling three bags of old clothes I hate and two bags of books I’ll never look at again. So who’s the crazy one?

For the love of eating in grocery stores, go to Cedar Land immediately
Cedar Land, a Central Avenue classic, is a specialty grocery store serving up authentic Mediterranean food like hummus, tabbouleh, falafel and more. Entrees run $9-$12 and you can eat in or order at the counter and take it to go. It took me way too long to get in here.

In a post-Shark Week depression, we went to Discovery Place to see sharks in IMAX
Shark Week may be over but my boyfriend’s desire to watch sharks is not (and never will be). Thankfully, Discovery Place’s IMAX theatre meets my old lady movie going criteria (short, educational and early show times) and is also currently showing a documentary about great whites. Perfect date.
Behind the Kitchen: A conversation with Steven Young from The King’s Kitchen
Vanessa caught up with Chef Steven about gross steamed broccoli, the importance of finding a mentor in the food business and how he’d put his pan-fried chicken up against Price’s Chicken Coop any day. Fried chicken wars!
5 important things women know about money (and men don’t)
Research shows women outperform men when it comes to investing. Rich says it’s because women save more, work with financial advisors, join “money clubs” (sign me up), delay gratification and are less impulsive/risky than men when it comes to money matters.
An ode to my Honda
Jon wrote a poem about how he upgraded his trusty ’98 Accord for a Jeep and doesn’t give a <bleep> what you think about its crash rating and his kids riding in the back seat. He’s also legitimately selling the Honda and if this glowing review doesn’t work I don’t know what will.
