This Friday, December 1, the grounds of Olde Mecklenburg Brewery will transform into the brewery’s 6th annual Weihnachtsmarkt for first three weekends in December.
Kickoff begins at 11 a.m. and will include the release of Yule Bock, an authentic German Weihnachtsbock that tends to run out before the end of the market’s three-weekend stretch, a visit from Santa at 4 p.m. and a tree lighting at sunset.
43 local vendors will be available to shop while you sip Dunkel, a dark holiday lager, and mulled wine, making this year’s market the largest yet.
Vendors include city staples like 704 Shop, Glory Days Apparel, Johnny Fly Co., King of Pops and Sweet’s Syrup. Like its sister event in Nuremburg, a handful will be selling out of traditional wooden huts.
The market will run December 1-2, 8-9 and 15-16, from 4-9 p.m. on Fridays and 2-9 p.m. on Saturdays, with crowds expected to total over 10,000, according to the brewery.
The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery is located at 4150 Yancey Road and will, in addition to market hours, operate normal hours during Weihnachtsmarkt (11 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday). Connect on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. All photos courtesy of OMB.
