If the only thing missing from your favorite local coffee shop is a room full of cats, have I got a deal for you.

Honestly, you could just come to my house where I am currently feeding my two cats, three foster kittens and a whole colony of feral cats.

But for a less weird cat + coffee experience, there’s Daily Mews, a new cat cafe targeting a fall opening at 3748 Monroe Road in the Oakhurst neighborhood.

In the meantime, perhaps you would like to adopt one of my three orange foster kittens? Shameless plug – email katie@charlotteagenda.com.

The concept is pretty simple — a cafe on one side and a separate cat lounge on the other where adoptable cats can mingle with people in a cage-free environment.

Daily Mews will partner with Monroe Road Animal Hospital to rescue cats from local shelters and provide them safe housing in the cat lounge until they are adopted.

Guests can pay an hourly entrance fee to hang out in the cat lounge, which will house up to 14 cats at a time.

What a wonderland.

Work is currently underway on the 1940s-era bungalow that will house the Daily Mews.

And it isn’t the only cat cafe coming to Charlotte.

Mac Tabby, located 516 E. 15th Street, is also targeting a fall opening. I’ll be visiting that space on Friday so stay tuned for MORE CATS.
